LULING OSOFSKY is a scholar, writer, educator and documentary photographer. Her current research investigates the affective and geopolitical dimensions of planetary memory in a time of climate crisis through cultural engagements with seeds, whales, and ice. Osofsky teaches courses in writing and the visual culture of memory, with a focus on race and the environment. She has presented creative and critical work at SFMoMA and the Getty and has published essays in Paris Review Daily, High Country News, Orion Magazine, and LA Review of Books’ The Offing. Her visual work has been exhibited in the Addison Gallery of American Art, the Thoreau Center for Sustainability, and the Karpeles Manuscript Museum, among others. She is currently completing her PhD in History of Art and Visual Culture at UC Santa Cruz, with designated emphases in Literature and Critical Race and Ethnic Studies.
